With a thunder in the rainy season, kwami, who was sleeping in her mother's arms, suddenly woke up and cried. The faint light loomed and appeared, "dumsor is coming", followed by the darkness around. This has been countless. It is the first time that there has been a power failure this month. "Dumsor" means "sudden power failure" in Ghana.
Ten years ago, "dumsor" occurred frequently, which seriously affected the work and life of Ghanaian residents. With the completion and operation of generator units of Shenneng ansogu power (Ghana) Co., Ltd. and the further improvement of Ghana's power system, Ghana's power supply has been effectively guaranteed. With sufficient power supply, Ghana's people's living standard and economic level have been gradually improved, and kwami's fear of "dumsor" will no longer invade people's normal life.
Shenneng ansogu power (Ghana) Co., Ltd. was jointly invested and built by Shenzhen Energy Group Co., Ltd. and China Africa Development Fund in 2007. It is a key project for Chinese enterprises to go out and take root in Africa and achieve long-term sustainable development. The company is located in boon City, Greater Accra Province, Republic of Ghana, West Africa, near the north of the Gulf of Guinea, covering an area of 200000 square meters, about 29 kilometers away from the capital Accra. The project is divided into two phases, with a total capacity of 560000 kW gas steam combined cycle generator units. The installed capacity of phase I project is 200000 kW, which was completed and put into operation in 2010; The installed capacity of phase II project is 360000 kW, which was put into operation in 2017.
The project is the first gas-fired power generation project invested by Chinese enterprises in Africa and the first independent power generation enterprise project in Ghana. As the largest thermal power plant in Ghana, the annual power generation capacity can reach 3 billion kwh, which can meet 15% of Ghana's power demand. The company's efficient, environment-friendly, reliable power supply and competitive electricity price provide a strong guarantee for Ghana's economic development and take-off, and has won many important awards from Ghana's Ministry of energy, West African chamber of Commerce and industry and other departments and institutions. Most importantly, the company took root in Ghana, imparted selflessly, and trained a number of power professionals for Ghana.
Employee localization is the company's long-term development strategy. Ghana's universities have not set up majors directly related to power generation, so the project encountered many difficulties and challenges in promoting the localization process at the initial stage. How to make the training and management of local employees systematic, regulated, refined and long-term is the subject that the company has been thinking about.
Facing the challenges, the company introduced the first simulator operation training system of Ghana power generation system, organized personnel to sort all technical materials into English, established training course system of various disciplines, organized the preparation of training courseware, carried out internal lectures, signed master-student contracts, conducted one-to-one training, trained a group of excellent local technical backbone, and then led the new with the old, Drive the overall improvement of other local employees. A group of experienced and excellent local employees of the company are favored by the local power industry in Ghana. Many employees work as technical backbone and management personnel in other companies after leaving the company, further deepening the company's influence in Ghana's power industry.
Ellie is the assistant manager of the company's business marketing department. He graduated from Cape Coast University of Ghana in 2006 and is the first batch of local employees of the company. Over the past 10 years, he has witnessed the development of China's first natural gas power plant invested and operated in Africa, and he himself has grown from a grass-roots employee to an enterprise manager. When he just graduated, he had little savings and could only rent a small house with his wife. After years of development, now he has purchased land in ashama area and built his own two-story house, which has greatly improved his living standard. One belt, one road, CCTV's story of growing up was featured in his story.
The company has many excellent local employees like Ellie, who develop and grow together with the company, help the enterprise take root in Ghana, and grow into independent professionals.
Both justice and benefit, win-win cooperation. In the process of production and operation, the company develops together with the local people, strengthens cooperation with the local community, realizes the connection between the people, actively undertakes the social responsibility of the community, and provides assistance within its ability, including providing jobs for the community people, improving community infrastructure conditions, student aid, supporting charities, building roads, donating anti epidemic funds and materials, etc, Establish a good corporate image.
For example, the company built a 4km high standard concrete road for the local people. Since then, there is no dust and mud, no stench and mosquitoes, and the road is full of new shops such as barber shops and supermarkets. In the past, there were few pedestrians and vehicles on this road. Now it has replaced the previous main road and become the busiest "new main road" in the town.
The road is open and the heart is open. This assistance road reflects the business rules of mutual benefit and win-win results, as well as the profound China Canada friendship. According to the proposal of Wang dating, then Chinese ambassador to Ghana, the road was named "China Ghana Friendship Road" under the direction of bavumia, vice president of Ghana.
In this way, the company has achieved its own sustainable development in the cooperation and mutual benefit with the Ghanaian government, social elites, community people and Chinese enterprises.
At present, the economy of Ghana and West Africa is in the stage of rapid development, and the power market of Ghana and West Africa has great development space. On the basis of summarizing the successful experience of existing project design, construction and operation, the company actively studies and promotes the in-depth cooperation in the field of waste power generation and renewable energy power generation such as wind power and solar energy. In the future, the company will make full use of the advantages of West African Power Union in interconnecting the power grids of West African countries and seek to build new energy projects in West Africa and African countries.
Only by pursuing harmony and win-win can we realize the sustainable development of enterprises overseas, and only by win-win cooperation can we take root overseas to do major and long-term things. The Shenneng ansogu power company project has explored new ideas for Chinese enterprises to invest in Africa and provided a new direction for China's equipment manufacturing industry to go global.
