According to the report, the latest research shows that higher temperature and less light in autumn will interfere with citrus photosynthesis, accelerate "respiration" in the mature season and consume too much citric acid.

It is reported that acid is a component to enhance the aroma of fruits and plays an important role in the balance between acid and sweet of fruits. Over the past 15 years, the acidity of French citrus has been weakening year by year, resulting in changes in the taste of fruits.

Bayli, director of the French National Institute of agriculture, food and environment, said that in order to adapt to climate change, French scientists are looking for late maturing citrus varieties with stronger acidity to maintain the balance between sour and sweet fruits.
